How Firm a Foundation

This week has been wonderful! My companion and I were able to meet with way more people than we ever have before this week which was awesome! One thing that people can request through Come Unto Christ is a Bible study. Our friend Nate chose to do just that! My companion, however, said he barely knows the Bible so it was really fun. He's been spending a lot of personal studies in Revelation haha. I love the clarity the Book of Mormon brings to the Bible and how God's word can always bring peace to people and invite the Spirit! This week I had the opportunity to bear testimony at our ward's fast and testimony meeting. I also was able to do some service for a few members who work at the mine in Hibbing. Hibbing is famous as "the town that moved." They had built and were developing all this land when they realized that the iron deposits ran further south than they expected. Here in the Iron Range mining makes up probably 50 percent of the total employment opportunities. So they just moved everything! They demolished city hall and the schools and the member's house that was being built and moved it! This was an incredible story that reminded me of a scripture I read this week

And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
I think that like the people of Hibbing sometimes we need to move our whole foundation. Not just the roof or the second floor but the whole thing! President Nelson talked about the temple foundation in conference, and how they were making it stronger so it can endure all that will happen. This was so important but more important I think is the preliminary process of checking the foundation! Let's check to make sure our foundation is built upon the rock of our Redeemer. Let's make sure that what we're building our life on isn't limiting our access to spiritual iron. If there are things that are, maybe consider a mighty change! Hibbing did it! Alma the younger (and elder, and the sons of Mosiah, and Jonah and Moses and practically every prophet) did it! I know we can too. I testify that enduring happiness comes from fulfilling the measure of our creation. From knowing that the offering of our will is acceptable to our God. I love you guys! Shoot me an email this week if you want to say hi! Wish my mom a happy birthday! She probably won't send this out until it's past haha, but it's today! She's at least 25!
